About This Project

VaultForward keeps sensitive WhatsApp forwards in a private, encrypted vault that lives on-device first, so they remain accessible even when chats are cleared.

The app integrates with WhatsApp share intents to save forwards quickly, applies local full-text search and tagging for recall, and plans optional P2P/WebRTC sync for trusted devices.

Roadmap features include offline-friendly media storage, smart reminders for un-reviewed saves, and selective sharing that preserves end-to-end encryption guarantees.

Why I Built This

WhatsApp forwards that matter (family docs, receipts, important voice notes) get lost when chats are wiped or devices change, so a private vault preserves them with local ownership.

A local-first design minimizes cloud exposure while still enabling quick capture from WhatsApp, addressing the privacy and persistence gaps in standard chat history.

Key Learnings

•Balancing usability with security requires clear defaults like local encryption and opt-in sync to mitigate account compromise or device loss risks.

•Designing for share-intent capture surfaces edge cases around media sizes, storage quotas, and maintaining encrypted search indexes without leaking metadata.
